Plagiarism is an easy fix for any human being; procrastination, lack of research, there are many elements that can support someones decison to copy someone elses work. Journalists are bumbarded with deadlines and sometimes there schedules become so unruly and hectic that the temptation to copy someone elses work becomes over-powering. The act is done most of the time, knowing that it's wrong and an evident crime. People tend to overlook the reprecussions of the crime while in the last deciding moments of whether or not to plagiarize. When someone elses work is copied, it's not only disrespectful to them, but when the public finds out that you as a journalize haven't been honest through your words it becomes detrimental to ones career. The consequences can range from losing an audience or readers, to ruining your reputation, or even getting fired from your job.
Making up stories can come into play a lot as a journalist, trying to feed the public a compelling story is something most seek to acheive and can find to be a difficult task. When pressured to make a story interesting to the public eye and with a deadline in the back of a journalists mind, sometimes their creative thoughts of what they imagine the story could be may seem tempting enough to use rather than the not-so-interesting truth.
